Township of Langley
- The Township of Langley has the second highest number of park washrooms available relative to population size, or over twice the average, at 32 washrooms per 100,000 people.
- The Township of Langley is one of 67% of cities with a climate change action plan that includes parks.
- The Township of Langley is one of 57% of cities that has a seniors strategy that includes parks.
- Township of Langley’s recently approved Community Forest Management Strategy will “offset tree canopy decline by exploring opportunities to retain and plant trees on public and private lands” and sets a goal of increasing urban canopy cover from 23% to 30% over the next 30 years.
- Clean Up Langley Day, a township tradition, returned after a two year hiatus. Residents gathered in April to clean up streets, parks, trails, or creeks with materials provided by the township.
- Students from Langley Secondary School are learning about soil and sustainability through an experiential learning Environmental Science course at the Langley Learning Farm, through a partnership between the township and local environmental organizations. The farm is located on parkland at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum.
