Brampton
- Brampton is one of 53% of cities with a park system master plan updated within the last 10 years.
- Brampton is above average for hectares of parkland relative to population for cities over 500,000 residents, with 5.7 hectares per thousand people.
- Brampton is one of 57% of cities that has a seniors strategy that includes parks.
- The city’s new Lake Enhancement Strategy was released in 2021. Building off of the 2019 Eco Park Strategy, the strategy outlines best practices for enhancing recreation and natural protection of Brampton’s lake and river systems.
- In 2021, Brampton received $1.28 million from the federal government to plant 8,000 trees over the next year in order to rehabilitate the city’s urban forest. This initiative will contribute toward the city’s goal of planting one million trees by 2040.
- Through a partnership with the Brampton Public Library, Story Walks were offered in six Brampton parks allowing people to enjoy a children’s story while exploring the park’s pathways and trails.
